About Kiambu County

Kiambu County borders Nairobi, Kajiado, Nakuru, Nyandarua and Murang'a counties. Kiambu Town is the county headquarters while Thika, Ruiru, Limuru and Kikuyu are major urban centres. Fertile highlands, forests and rapidly expanding urban areas characterize the county. The population is predominantly Kikuyu but highly cosmopolitan due to urbanization. The economy is among Kenya's strongest, driven by manufacturing, commerce, real estate, technology, education and agriculture. Coffee, tea, dairy farming, horticulture and poultry remain important. Kiambu preserves Kikuyu traditions while embracing modern urban lifestyles.
